We’ve always been fascinated by everyday public objects we depend on but seldom notice. The railway clock is one such presence always visible, yet quietly overlooked.
This project envisions a digital clock for Indian Railways that merges functionality with cultural symbolism, drawing inspiration from the Kalachakra. Designed to be clear, reliable, and durable for nationwide use, the clock ensures high visibility in busy railway stations while maintaining ease of installation. Beyond its utility, it is visually striking and emotionally engaging, evoking curiosity, pride, and connection. By reinterpreting the timeless philosophy of Kalachakra into a modern public object, the design transforms a simple clock into a symbol of trust, continuity, and cultural identity for millions of daily travelers.
